CHICAGO (AP) — Happy 175th birthday, Chicago.

Sunday marks the day the city was incorporated — March 4, 1837. Events are being held across the city to celebrate the occasion.

The Chicago History Museum on the North Side will host a day of activities, including meet-and-greet sessions with actors playing historical luminaries such as Jane Addams.

On the South Side, the DuSable Museum of African American history will have musical performances and arts workshops.

Both events will offer the chance to meet actors portraying Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable, a Haitian-born immigrant who was the city’s first settler.

DuSable, who has become known as "the father of Chicago," built his first home in the late 1770s on what is now the site of the Pioneer Plaza outside the Equitable building.
