Gun violence in Chicago has long been a problem for law enforcement so JP Morgan Chase Bank is offering money to gun owners in exchange for their weapons. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, owners of legal and illegal guns can drop off their weapon at 26 Chicago locations, mainly churches, with no questions asked. For each gun turned in, the owner will receive a prepaid MasterCard. And the amount of the card will depend on the type of gun turned in. For assault weapons, $100 cards will be issued and $10 cards will be issued for BB guns. The unique part about the gun turn-in is that no one will be questioned about his or her guns and no identification is needed either. The only requirement is that all guns must be unloaded. Chicago police will be on-site to monitor the exchange but will not search individuals or check them for criminal backgrounds. And Chicago police said if a person is unable to attend the gun turn-in session Saturday, they could always turn their guns in at any Chicago police station or by calling 911. All guns from the turn-in will be destroyed and never used, police officials said.
