Graduation Day

Twenty-eight Chicago Housing Authority residents seeking new career goals and long-term economic, employment and training opportunities in the construction industry new emerging green sectors recently achieved another milestone by graduating on February 11 from the Coalition For United Community Action-ORTC, Inc., Apprenticeship Preparedness Training Green Initiative Program sponsored by AMERESCO, an independent energy solutions company and one of CHA’s energy efficiency contractors that’s committed to making a difference in the community. Utilizing Dawson Technical Institute’s facilities, classes consisted of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, introduction to computers, manual and online green construction, construction math, test taking techniques, OSHA, employability skills and much more.  This program represented the Coalition working hand in hand with contractors, government, labor and community toward a common goal: long term training, employment and economic opportunities for CHA Residents.
