Jarrell Bonner, a first-grade student at Claremont Academy Elementary School on the Southwest Side, is presented with a trip for four to Orlando, Fla. by Radio Disney personality Adam Welton (left) as a result of Bonner’s perfect attendance in a targeted incentive contest organized by Chicago Public Schools in cooperation with the radio station. Bonner’s name was chosen in a random drawing of students from 10 schools selected by CPS for the attendance incentive program.

Student attendance at the schools was tracked for two periods: Sept. 4 to Dec. 19 and Feb. 1 to May 26. Students from the schools who boasted a 100 percent attendance rate for the second period were entered into the drawing for the trip to Orlando.

Some 784 students at the targeted schools achieved 100 percent attendance during the latter period. Along with Claremont Academy, other schools in the program included Armour, Belmont-Cragin, Bond, Graham, Haley, Delano, Casals, Randolph and Coonley elementary schools.
