Actress Gabrielle Union was serving up smiles and lending a “hand” Nov. 19 when she came to a Chicago area McDonald’s as part of World Children’s Day. Union, along with executives from the Ronald McDonald House Charities, participated in a fundraiser event where they sold paper hands at the McDonald’s restaurant located at 10 E. Chicago Ave.

World Children’s Day raises money worldwide to help support outreach and local causes for children all around the globe. Locally, proceeds benefit the Ronald McDonald Houses that help provide a home away from home for children being treated at area hospitals and their families. Additionally, the fundraisers held the RMHC to operate its care mobiles and fund grants for other youth programs.

Union not only visited the restaurant, she visited children at a Ronald McDonald House.

The Hollywood actress’ film credits include Bad Boys II, Deliver Us From Eva and the upcoming film Cadillac Palace, which also stars singer Beyonce.
