Sometimes women don’t know when to let go of a man, but Gabrielle Union has some tell tale signs of a love gone sour.
“Um, when they don’t call you back? No.” Gabrielle joked with during a screening for “Being Mary Jane” in Los Angeles. “If you ever have to put ‘Never Answer‘ in the phone, that may be a good sign that relationship’s run its course.”
Outside of taking a hint from your smartphone, Gabrielle suggests that you check your heart to see how you really feel about the relationship. “If you don’t look forward to seeing them. If the relationship starts to feel like a job, could be a sign,” she said.
Then again, Gabrielle thinks that some women simply need to recognize that some guys just have an expiration date in their life.

“A lot of times as women, [we can look] at men like a carton of milk and we see the expiration date come and gone. Its spoiled, and now its curdled, and its damn near blue cheese, It’s done. Throw it away. It’s gonna make you sick. We just have to recognize the obvious, obvious signs.”

Gabrielle Union plays  Mary Jane “Being Mary Jane”  an Atlanta news anchor who struggles with her loved ones (including a friend who tries to kill herself), romance (she’s torn between a married suitor and a playboy), and career (contending with journalistic ethics in the face of a Katrina-like disaster). Not exactly lightweight fare.
“Being Mary Jane” is created and executive produced by Mara Brock Akil , creator of “Girlfriends” and “The Game”, and executive produced and directed by Salim Akil who was exec producer of “Sparkle” and director of “Jumping the Broom”. It was cable’s No. 1 original series on Tuesday in 18-49 as well as total viewers. And since the start of the 2013-14 television season in September, it’s cable’s No. 1 premiere in the demo too! Being Mary Jane actually was first unveiled to viewers in July as a 90-minute TV movie, paired with the midseason return of BET’s The Game
