ATLANTA — No longer undefeated.
The Carolina Panthers, led by superstar Cam Newton, are no longer chasing an undefeated season after suffering a 20-13 loss to their division rivals, the Atlanta Falcsons at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
In doing so, the Falcons may have played their most complete game of the year, while doing what no one had been able to do all year: keep Newton in check.
Cam Newton had only 142 passing yards and no passing TDs, but scored a rushing TD to make it 7-0 early.
Falcons’ Matt Ryan threw for 306 yards, 178 of them to Julio Jones, who made the catch of the day and perhaps of the year, over two defenders for a long score.
Despite the loss, Panthers can clinch No. 1 NFC seed with a win next Sunday.
In the meantime, social media and especially Falcons fans had a lot to laugh about after being the team to hand the Panthers their first setback of the season.
