SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton can only take solace in his stellar season, prior to Super Bowl 50, that earned league MVP honors. Otherwise, the outspoken QB is the object of intense backlash due to his inglorious play and coming off as a sore loser when he walked out on the post-game press conference.
Newton shouldn’t be held responsible for the loss as he was literally mugged the entire night by a ferocious Denver Broncos defense caused him to make three critical turnover, including two deep in their own territory — and one of them resulting in the Broncos touchdown.
But because Newton deliberately brought attention to himself through his outspoken behavior, extensive touchdown dances, flamboyant fashion and what is deemed as arrogance has social media stampeding all over him in the aftermath of Panthers’ heartbreaking 24-10 loss.
