The Bulls season is already underway and they are already making news. From comments about 2017 Free Agency, to the usual injury bug making its way around the team, we’ve already seen it all. The BIGS crew of Eugene McIntosh and Terrence Tomlin have been on the scene and answer some lingering questions so far from Bulls training camp. Check it out below:

What was the bottom line of Derrick Rose’s comments about looking forward to his 2017 free agency on Media Day?
Gene:  D. Rose is trolling everyone! I think he did that purposely just to give people something else to make him some type of villain. I personally don’t think he honors Chicago media and the media in general because of the way they’ve done him in the past. The fans and management have had his back regardless of what he had going on physically, personally, etc. The media not so much. That’s why Kevin Durant is doing his own thing with the Players Tribune so that media middleman is cut out and you can get his perspective with no filter. The media thinks they know these guys from interviews and appearances but really have no clue about who they “really” are. I think that’s the same case with Derrick. He could use some new counseling though. Some things he could go without saying.  All talk should be about the team and the upcoming season.
Terrence: The bottom line is, who wouldn’t be thinking about their impending free agency in that position? But whether or not his comments were made to intentionally ruffle some feathers, a simple, “I’m looking forward to going after a championship this year.” would have sufficed. Rose’s best “eff” you to the critics has always been continued improvement on the court in response to his injuries. Thanks to an offseason where he was able to implement a basketball routine as opposed to rehabbing from an injury, he could be primed to return to an all-star level. Although his mention of his free agency two year away does raise eyebrows, let’s remember that this is just his second season back from almost three seasons removed from playing because of various knee injuries. The thought of a potential pay cut could be weighing heavy on his brain.
