Friends for Foxx campaign gains huge endorsement from U.S. Senator Kamala Harris

Tuesday, U.S. Senator Kamala Harris endorsed Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx in support of her re-election.  “Understanding the emotion, the energy, and the intentional accountability it takes to bring change to the criminal justice system I am proud to endorse my sister, State’s Attorney Kim Foxx,” said U.S. Senator Kamala Harris. “State’s Attorney Foxx, in spite of swimming against the current of a system that is still slow to change, has bought bold and historical change to the Cook County Criminal Justice system. She is righting the wrongs of the failed war on drugs in expunging low-level marijuana convictions, leading the nation in exonerating the wrongfully convicted, and reducing mass incarceration by prosecuting on violent crimes instead of over criminalizing non-violent low-level offenses. State’s Attorney Kim Foxx is a national model for progressive Criminal Justice Reform.”

Sen. Harris recently ran for the Democratic Nomination for President. Sen. Harris has an extensive background in criminal justice, formerly serving as District Attorney of San Francisco, where she created a national model with her “back on track program,”  in addition to serving as the Attorney General of California.

“It is a privilege to receive the support of U.S. Senator Kamala Harris,” said Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx. “From her innovative work as the District Attorney of San Francisco to being a microphone of accountability in the U.S. Senate, Senator Harris has been an inspiration and mentor to me. She reminds us that justice and equality are always on the ballot. I am proud to have her standing with me.”
