Midway Broadcasting, the parent company of WVON Radio, announced recently that veteran journalist Darlene Hill, former anchor at Chicago’s Fox Affiliate will become the permanent co-host of AVON’s afternoon Drive Show, Afternoons with Buchanan & Hill.
The show airs weekdays from 3-6 p.m. and is co-hosted by Atiba Buchanan.
Hill is replacing former co-host Kimberley Egonmwan and has worked as a fill-in co-host for the past three months after Egonmwan left to seek political office.
Hill is a 30-year veteran journalist and a fixture in Chicago media. Her knowledge of local stakeholders, politics, and social issues makes her an asset to WVON’s Talk/News format. “WVON has such a rich history of being a force and a voice in Chicago this just seems right. I look forward to being part of the next generation of storytellers,” said Hill.
On April 1st, WVON celebrated its 60th Anniversary as Chicago’s oldest Black-oriented radio station.
