Former letter carrier sentenced for mail thefts

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. — A judge in East St. Louis has sentenced a former mail carrier to three months in federal prison for stealing mail from the people on her route.

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. — A judge in East St. Louis has sentenced a former mail carrier to three months in federal prison for stealing mail from the people on her route. Forty-two-year-old Barbara Davis of Bethalo pleaded guilty in December to charges that accused her of taking mail containing gift cards on 10 occasions between June 14 and July 19, 2008. The case was handled by U.S. Postal Service inspectors. According to the charges, the gift cards were for Target, Wal-Mart or QuikTrip.
