WILTON MANORS, Fla. (AP) — A South Florida police chief is beginning his suspension for sending racist e-mails on his work account. Wilton Manors Police Chief Richard Perez began his 30-day, unpaid suspension Monday. Perez will have to attend racial and cultural sensitivity training during his suspension. The South Florida Times obtained copies of the e-mails. They appeared to be chain e-mails that featured derogatory comments about black people, the homeless, and President Barack Obama and his family. One of the e-mails also expressed disappointment that Obama was not shot during his inauguration. Perez did not respond to a phone message left at his office by The Associated Press or to an e-mail.
