WASHINGTON (AP) — Michelle Obama has taken part in a ceremony honoring children of military families at the Washington Nationals’ game against the Chicago Cubs. The first lady was warmly welcomed by the crowd as she walked to the mound with nine children from military families of the various armed forces before Tuesday’s game. She clapped as one of the children made the ceremonial first pitch to Nationals second baseman Danny Espinosa. Espinosa received a hug from Mrs. Obama, and then she posed for photos with the children near the pitcher’s mound. The Nationals dedicated the game to an initiative led by Mrs. Obama and Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, aimed at rallying the country to support military families.
