First Lady Amy Eshelman Visits Protect Chicago Plus Vaccination Clinic in Englewood.

On Thursday, March 18, First Lady Amy Eshleman visited the Protect Chicago Plus vaccination clinic located at UI Health Mile Square Health Center in Englewood to greet the community and provide encouraging words of support to those receiving their COVID-19 vaccines.

More than 30 community-based organizations, ward offices, and faith institutions are working with UI Health Mile Square Health Center to share important information about the vaccine and connect community members with appointments – including One Health Englewood, Teamwork Englewood, Antioch Community Social Service Agency, St. Bernard Hospital, Englewood Community Action Council, and the 7th District CAPS, among many others. Approximately 1,000 doses are being administered per week.

The City of Chicago’s Protect Chicago Plus initiative works to ensure that vaccination rates reflect the demographics of the city and expand vaccine access and uptake in Black and Latinx communities that have been most affected by the pandemic.

Additional Protect Chicago Plus temporary vaccination clinics are up and running serving those in Archer Heights, Austin, Back of the Yards, Belmont Cragin, Chicago Lawn, Gage Park, Little Village, Montclare, and North Lawndale with clinics launching for South Deering, Roseland/Washington Heights and Humboldt Park soon.

Vaccinations are offered at no cost and by appointment only to people who live in these communities. I.D. and insurance are not required but an address will need to be provided on the day of the appointment.
