LOCKPORT, Ill. — Will County prosecutors have charged a 15-year-old boy after a small device exploded at Lockport Township High School, sending 13 people to the hospital with minor injuries. Will County state’s attorney’s office spokesman Chuck Pelkie said Wednesday that the teenager is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, reckless conduct and unlawful possession of an explosive device. Police have the boy in custody, and he’s expected to appear in Will County juvenile court on Thursday. Thirteen students from the campus went to a nearby hospital with minor injuries after the Monday incident. The next day, school officials sent students home after someone left a threatening message on a school voice mail. Security has since been heightened at the school. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
