FBI Asks for Public Help Finding Escaped Convicts

Escapees

(AP) — The FBI is asking the public to be on the lookout for two convicted bank robbers who escaped from a federal lockup in Chicago.

The agency says 37-year-old Joseph Banks and 38-year-old Kenneth Conley are believed to be traveling together and should be considered armed and dangerous.

The former cellmates escaped early Tuesday from the downtown Metropolitan Correctional Center by breaking out a small window and descending about 20 stories with a rope fashioned from bed sheets.

The U.S. Marshals Service says the men were unaccounted for during a 5 a.m. headcount. The FBI says jail employees noticed the makeshift rope around 7 a.m.

They were last seen in the southwest Chicago suburb of Tinley Park on Tuesday morning, but they weren’t found during a search of a home there.
