The family of Nicholas Taft Thomas, the unarmed man shot and killed by Smyrna Police, are set to meet with the chief of Smyrna Police Department to discuss the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
As Atlanta Daily World previous reported, six Smyrna and Cobb County police officers were serving a warrant to Thomas, 25, while worked at his place of employment at Goodyear. The police on the scene said that Thomas immediately hopped into a Maserati and tried to drive away when officers, fearful of their lives, fired into the car, killing Thomas.
Other witnesses dispute the official claim, that Thomas was not trying to drive toward the officers in an effort to either run them over or get away and that the officer administered deadly force unnecessarily.
On Monday, March 30th at 1:30pm the family and attorneys of the unarmed police shooting victim Nicholas Thomas, will meet with the Chief of Police of the Smyrna Police Department at the City of Smyrna City Hall. The family and their attorneys will provide a statement to the media after their meeting.
“We are hopeful the meeting with the Smyrna Chief of Police will not only bring answers for the family but an agreement to send this case to be independently investigated by the GBI,” said Attorney Robert Bozeman, Managing Partner of the Davis Bozeman Law Firm.
