KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaican authorities say a man who posed as a cop for six months may have been recruited by police officers involved in an illegal gambling racket. Police Commissioner Hardley Lewin said Saturday that 19 officers in St. James parish have been stripped of their authority to make arrests and had their salaries reduced pending the investigation. He did not release details on how police allegedly used 23-year-old Courtney Grayson. Authorities say the police helped organize an illegal lottery that took in millions of dollars. Grayson went on several raids with the Montego Bay police before he was arrested last month and accused of impersonating an officer.
