EXPO CHICAGO Unveils Exciting Lineup for Eleventh Edition

EXPO CHICAGO, one of the most anticipated art events of the year, has announced its core programming lineup for the eleventh edition, which will take place from April 11-14 at Navy Pier. This year’s edition promises an array of engaging programs aimed at fostering dialogue among art enthusiasts and professionals alike, both within the fairgrounds and across the city.

In addition to the impressive gallery presentations, EXPO CHICAGO will feature several noteworthy programs, including the renowned /Dialogues panel series, the IN/SITU and IN/SITU Outside installations, OVERRIDE | A Billboard Project, and the Northern Trust Exchange Stage, a pivotal component of the fair’s VIP Program.

Kate Sierzputowski, Artistic Director of EXPO CHICAGO, expressed excitement about the diverse offerings, stating, “EXPO CHICAGO’s programming engages with local and visiting audiences by offering opportunities of engagement beyond the core fair, extending conversations to neighborhoods throughout Chicago.”

The /Dialogues series, presented in partnership with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), will host a lineup of leading curators, artists and arts professionals for panel discussions and forums.

Highlights include a keynote with Chance the Rapper and discussions on a range of topics, including art making and social change, Puerto Rican representation within local collections, criticism as art practice, and more.

Tony Karman, President and Director of EXPO CHICAGO, emphasized the significance of the event’s programming, stating, “From our inception, EXPO CHICAGO has consistently presented a robust list of critically acclaimed programs that activates the exposition for our patrons and contributes to the enduring critical discourse of the international arts community.”

The IN/SITU program, curated by Amara Antilla, will showcase site-responsive and large-scale works throughout Festival Hall. At the same time, IN/SITU Outside will present temporary public art installations in partnership with the Chicago Park District and other city entities.

OVERRIDE | A Billboard Project, a citywide collaborative public art initiative, will display works by emerging and established artists on digital billboards across Chicago’s Central Business District.

The Northern Trust Exchange will also offer VIP patrons discussions on collecting and the art market with industry leaders.

EXPO ART WEEK, presented with Choose Chicago and the City of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), will feature citywide events and celebrations, including South Side Night and Art After Hours.

EXPO CHICAGO, inaugurated in 2012, continues to draw upon Chicago’s rich cultural history while highlighting the region’s contemporary arts community.
