DETROIT — Eminem says he and Jimmy Kimmel will fly about 200 laid-off auto workers to Los Angeles for Friday’s taping of the Michigan rapper’s appearance on Kimmel’s TV show.

Eminem is promoting the May 19 release of "Relapse," his first studio album in four years.

"Jimmy Kimmel Live!" also plans to feature Eminem May 19 and May 22.

Through a publicist, Eminem tells the Detroit Free Press news reports ignore people who have lost their jobs without getting big payouts "after dedicating themselves to the auto industry."

Eminem says he and Kimmel "wanted to remind everyone that there are real people affected by what’s going on in Detroit."

The musician says he and Kimmel want to "show some of them a good time while we’re at it."
