CHICAGO (AP) — Some Chicagoans don’t need any more time to decide who they want to be the next mayor.
Monday was the first day of early voting and a steady stream of Chicagoans are heading to the polls. They say that even though so much media coverage has centered on Rahm Emanuel’s ultimately successful legal fight to get on the ballot, that hasn’t stopped them from forming opinins on the candidates. Some like 72-year-old Margie Harris say they’re basing their decision on who they think is best equipped to run the city, not what they say about specific issues.
Chicago Board of Elections spokesman Jim Allen says he expects the early voter turnout will be much greater than four years ago — in part because people are more comfortable with early voting.
