Thurman Smith

Tony leads PNC Bank’s community lending and investing for Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, Kansas and Minnesota. His imprint on communities of color can be observed across Chicago, where his team was the lead investor on the Englewood Whole Foods, the new Ogden Commons development which will house Mt. Sinai’s community health practice in West Lawndale, the Local Market grocer in South Shore and Pierce House in Humboldt Park which secures housing for the homeless. Through the pandemic, Tony served as a co-chair of the Chicago Inclusionary Housing Task Force and on several boards, including the Cook County Land Bank, CIC and NHS. Most recently, he was named a co-chair of the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago’s Capital Campaign. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Chicago State University where he was inducted in the school’s Academy of Distinguished Alumni. He completed his MBA at the University of Southern California. Tony also served in the Marine Corp. where he was assigned to the Presidential Helicopter Squadron as a White House Liaison Officer.
