Karen Calloway, a Chicago native, is an alum of Lindblom Technical High School. Upon graduation Ms. Calloway attended Lewis University, where she received a Bachelor’s of Art in Psychology, Masters of Arts in Clinical and School Psychology and a Master’s in Education Administration.
Ms. Calloway joined the Kenwood family. During her tenure, she has assumed several roles: Professional School Counselor, Dean of Students, and Assistant Principal.
In July 2018, Ms. Calloway accepted the position of Principal. In accepting this role, she said, “As the principal of one of the best neighborhood high schools in the country, I am excited to encourage, nurture and arrange building blocks for success for our 2100 students.” During Principal Calloway’s tenure at Kenwood, it continues to progress as a 1+ neighborhood high school, winning over 50 million dollars in scholarships while graduating over 70% of seniors with 15 college credits, giving them a head start in college. Currently, while in a pandemic, she is rebuilding the school’s infrastructure by working with architects to link Kenwood’s two school buildings as well building a state of the art STEM lab.
