For the first time in 35 years patrons of the DuSable Museum of African American History will have to pay more to enter the nation’s oldest museum of its kind.
For the first time in 35 years patrons of the DuSable Museum of African American History will have to pay more to enter the nation’s oldest museum of its kind. Effective Oct. 1, adults will be charged $10; seniors and children ages 12 and older must pay $7; $3 for children ages 6 to 11; and it’s free for children ages 5 and younger. The museum will remain free of charge on Sundays and to all Chicago Public Schools students on school days.
Currently, adults pay $3, seniors and students $2 and children age 11 and younger $1. The DuSable Museum admission rates –– which has collected, preserved, interpreted and disseminated the history and culture of Africans and Americans of African descent for 49 years –– remains one of the lowest priced of the 10 Museums In The Park.
