With over 38 years of service as a registered nurse and 30 years as a Certified Nurse Midwife, Dr. Pamela Pearson exemplifies a legacy of leadership, compassion, and expertise in maternal and child health. A graduate of Rush University with both bachelors and masters degrees in nursing, Dr. Pearson further advanced her career by earning a Post-Masters Certificate in Midwifery from the University of Illinois College of Nursing at Chicago in 1994. In 2018, she achieved her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, focusing her doctoral research on perinatal mood disorders and addressing ethnic and racial disparities in maternal care within the African American community.
Dr. Pearson’s commitment to advancing healthcare equity is reflected in her role as Assistant Clinical Professor and Program Director of the Midwifery and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Illinois Chicago. Since joining the faculty in 2019, she has been instrumental in training the next generation of healthcare providers while championing initiatives to reduce maternal health disparities. Dr. Pearson is a transformative leader and practitioner devoted to creating lasting change in maternal health.
