Dr. Joi C. Basley is a seasoned social work professional with over 20 years of experience in therapeutic services, leadership, and program management. She earned a Doctorate in Social Work from Capella University, focusing on juvenile justice interventions for young Black women, and a Master of Social Work from DePaul University, where she explored NGO accountability in Kenya. Guided by her faith, Dr. Basley serves as an Ordained Elder at Triedstone Full Gospel Baptist Church under Bishop Simon Gordon. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, and Top Ladies of Distinction,Inc.- Will County Black Diamond Chapter.
In 2020, Dr. Basley founded Just Joiful, PLLC, a Chicago-based psychotherapy practice specializing in trauma-informed care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and mindfulness for clients aged 12-60. She also serves as Director of Young Adult Programs at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, overseeing trauma-informed residential services and staff mentorship. Dr. Basley is a proud community advocate, serving on the Board of Directors for Sky Art, a nonprofit visual arts agency. She enjoys singing, traveling, and spending quality time with her family while embracing life with joy and purpose.
