OTTAWA, Ill. — Police and LaSalle County Animal Control are investigating the deaths of about six dozen birds outside an Ottawa hotel. Authorities say there’s no sign of any chemicals that could have killed 73 sparrows outside the Holiday Inn Express. A New Mexico man staying at the hotel says he noticed some dead birds Friday. And Hotel Guest Service Manager Mary Vargas says a guest complained to her about noisy birds Saturday night. Some of the birds and a nest were collected Sunday for the investigation. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
