LIVINGSTON, Mont. (AP) — The Department of Justice is investigating a complaint of race- and disability-based harassment at the 22-student Pine Creek School in Park County.
The Livingston Enterprise reports the DOJ last week requested records related to a former student, who is black, and some “alleged harassers,” along with information about a former teacher. The agency also sought the school’s bullying policies.
The school district investigated a complaint this spring from custodian Pamela Goodwine who alleged her son had been bullied at school. The investigation focused on teacher Leah Shannon, who was accused of allowing bullying in her classroom. The district found that bullying was widespread at the school. The district negotiated a paid resignation with Shannon in August.
The DOJ inquiry does not say who filed the complaint.
