Dionte Maxwell: 3 Charged in Fatal Weekend Shooting

Two boys and one adult have been charged with first-degree murder in the weekend shooting death of 18-year-old Dionte Maxwell. The teen had allegedly asked the suspects to leave the family birthday party they had crashed when he was fatally shot late Friday night.

Two of the three suspects are teens and are being charged as adults. In addition to the murder charges, the two 16-year-old suspects face additional charges of armed home invasion, attempted home invasion and mob action, the Tribune reports. Per Chicago police policy, juvenile suspects aren’t identified by name, even if they’re charged as adults.

The third suspect, 19-year-old Charles Southern, faces the same charges as the two teens. Family members say after Maxwell asked the party crashers to leave his uncle’s home in the 8400 block of South Constance Avenue in Avalon Park, he was shot twice in the chest.
