Dining on the 5 Kick-Off

On, July 13, Greater Chatham Initiatives (GCI), hosted opening festivities for its Third Annual Dining on the 5 event. Opening remarks were made by Nedra Sims Fears, executive director for Greater Chatham Initiative; Roderick T. Sawyer, 6thWard Alderman; and Kenya Merritt, chief small business officer for Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection.

The area on South 75th Street from Indiana Ave. to Langley Ave. and on to Chatham Center is being rebranded as Chicago’s “Restaurant Row.”   Showcasing local restaurants, the event had music, entertainment and also included a Trolley Tour of the Greater Chatham Areas of Avalon Park, Chatham and Greater Grand Crossing. Community residents and business owners gathered together to kick off this year’s event.
