Chicago Defender reporter, Kathy Chaney, was a finalist for the Chicago Headline Club’s Peter Lisagor Award for in-depth reporting.
Her Lisagor-nominated story, "Gang wars make South Side city’s deadliest," was published in the August 20-26, 2008 edition of the Defender.
Chaney also provided Defender coverage of the R. Kelly child pornography trial, the Mya Lyons’ and Nailah Franklin slayings, as well as the Hudson Family murders.
