Shawntae “Da Brat” Harris has stepped back on the scene and has no plans on slowing down.

Most recently heard on the BET Hip Hop awards as the show’s narrator, and beforehand in cameos on various raps including Chris Brown’s “Look At Me Now.”

Brat, who hails from the West Side, told the Defender she’s happy to be back doing what she loves and vowed to change the negative image others saw her as violent.

She was released in February after serving time on an aggravated assault charge.

“I just hate the perception of me: the gun toting, weed smoking, rowdy rapper of Chicago,” she said. “I have a sensitive side and I need people to understand that I am only human just like everybody else.”

“It just makes me [want to] go harder. It just makes you network more,” Brat told the Defender.

She’s working on new material, communicates with her fans regularly on Twitter and is looking forward to giving the fans what they want.
