News of Bill Cosby’s alleged sexual assaults may have become a very big deal among the public, but it apparently wasn’t major enough for the comedian’s biographer, who admitted he was wrong for not dealing with the allegations in his book, “Cosby: His Life and Times.”
Responding to being named as one of “those in the know” in the article “Calling Out Bill Cosby’s Media Enablers, Including Myself” by New York Times columnist David Carr, Mark Whitaker confessed to his mistake on Twitter with the following tweet:
“@carr2n David you are right. I was wrong to not deal with the sexual assault charges against Cosby and pursue them more aggressively.”
Whitaker later tweeted that he is “following new developments and will address them at the appropriate time.”
“If true the stories are shocking and horrible,” he said.
Carr’s article, which was published on Monday, called out the biographer’s omission, writing, “Mark Whitaker, who did not find room in his almost-500-page biography, ‘Cosby: His Life and Times,’ to address the accusations that Mr. Cosby had assaulted numerous women.”
“At least four of whom had spoken on the record and by name in the past about what they say Mr. Cosby did to them,” Carr noted while pointing out the claims against Cosby that came prior to recent revelations made by the women who have come forward accusing “The Cosby Show” star of sexually assaulting them years ago.
To date, except for briefly speaking with a reporter after his show in Florida last Friday (11-21-14), Cosby has maintained his silence regarding the allegations, with his lawyer, Martin Singer calling the accusers’ stories “increasingly ridiculous and completely illogical.””Cosby: His Life and Times” was released this past September.

Despite the scandal, Cosby has found support in Spelman College.
An official from the institution — which received a $20 million gift from Cosby and his wife Camille — tells TMZ that they have not had a single conversation to change anything regarding entertainer’s relationship with Spelman in light of the sexual assault allegations.
Notable highlights of Spelman’s association with Cosby include the school’s dedication of the 69,000 square foot Camille Olivia Hanks Cosby, EdD Academic Center to the Cosbys as well as the establishment of the William and Camille Cosby Endowed Professorship Program and the 2006 commencement address Bill Cosby gave.
According to Spelman, the Cosby gift was made more than 25 years ago and the relationship is cemented.
