A 64-year-old Chicago woman is being accused of playing a roll along with her grandson in the shooting death of her husband.

A statement released Saturday by the Police Department’s media office says the victim’s wife, Janet Strickland, was charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery. A police spokesman said he had no specific details on her alleged role.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, a judge set her bond Saturday at $500,000.

In the March 2 slaying, police say two men approached 72-year-old William Strickland outside his house in the South Side Roseland neighborhood as he was waiting for a ride to his dialysis treatment. He was then shot.

His 19-year-old grandson, also named William Strickland, was charged a week ago with murder in the case.
