Confusion at Chicago Election Voting Locations

CHICAGO–There are have been reports from voting poll locations that only lists candidates running for federal offices. Problems with the electronic machines have posed a glitch at certain locations such as one at the Jesse Owens Park in the 8th Ward. As an alternate, voters were given paper ballots with a complete list of electoral offices for Presidential, Cook County and State legislative races but some worry the confusion will take away necessary votes from candidates.
We tried to contact the Cook County Clerk’s Board of Elections Office for further comment but was unable to get through due to a consistent busy signal. This election has presented the largest early voter turnout–60,000 votes higher than the 2008 Primary election. Residents are encouraged to register and vote today, showing two forms of valid identification including proof of residency. Young adults that will turn 18 by the General election in November are welcomed to vote.
