Chicagoan Trenier Ward Joins ABC 7 Chicago as New Reporter

Trenier Ward will join the ABC 7 EYEWITNESS NEWS TEAM as a reporter, effective Oct. 25. It was announced today by Jennifer Graves, Vice President of News. “Tre is an award-winning journalist who loves in-depth reporting and breaking news,” said Graves. “We know he’ll bring that same passion to covering Chicago stories in the city he calls home and we’re looking forward to him joining our team.”

Ward comes to ABC 7 from WBAL-TV in Baltimore, Maryland, where he specialized in live, developing news stories. Those efforts contributed to the WBAL news team winning a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for the breaking coverage of the death of Representative Elijah Cummings.  Prior to that, he was a TV news reporter at WLKY-TV, in Louisville, Kentucky, and WAAY-TV in Huntsville, Alabama. Ward got his start as a news producer at KWQC-TV in Davenport, Iowa, where he wrote and produced daily newscasts.

A Chicago native, Ward enjoys reading, traveling, dancing and debating which Marvel movie is the best. As a youngster, he was a regular at the Bud Billiken Parade. One of his favorite childhood memories was getting a little advice and encouragement from aspiring Illinois Senator Barack Obama when he was only 5 years old.

Ward is a graduate of Northern Illinois University.
