Chicago Tribune employee killed, woman injured in shooting

CHICAGO (AP) _ Police in Chicago are investigating the death of a 23-year-old Chicago Tribune employee who was shot while sitting in a car on the city’s southeast side.

Authorities say Wayne Jackson was shot in the head and a woman in the car with him was shot in the leg shortly after 3 a.m.

Police Sergeant Chris Kapa says the two victims were sitting in their car talking. A police spokesman says they were shot by two men in a white SUV, who fled the scene.

A spokesman for the Chicago Tribune says Jackson worked at the newspaper’s Freedom Center printing plant.

Police are investigating, but no suspects are in custody.
