Members of a Ugandan children’s choir traveling the United States had two laptops, video equipment and a passport stolen from a tour van that had been parked on Chicago’s West Side. Carrie Harless is coordinator of the SIFA African Children’s Choir. She says the group includes 20 boys and girls raising money for a school and orphanage in their home country. One of their vans was broken into just as the children were about to perform at a Chicago church on Sunday afternoon. Harless says she’s most upset because the laptops contained photos of the children’s families. She says many of the children lost parents to HIV and AIDS, and their last pictures with family were stolen. The Chicago church’s pastor is asking the community to help locate the thief. ______ Copyright 2008 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
