(AP) — It’s going to cost motorists more to travel on the Chicago Skyway next year.
Tolls will jump from $3.50 to $4 on the Chicago Skyway starting Jan. 1. That 8-mile stretch of roadway is run by the private Skyway Concessions Company, which has a 99-year lease with the city.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that when the Skyway rate rose to $3.50 in January of 2011, it was the highest toll per mile of any interstate toll system tracked by the Federal Highway Administration.
The cost will be 52 cents per mile for the average passenger vehicle in 2013.
