Chicago police shoot Englewood man

CHICAGO  Authorities say Chicago police have shot and seriously wounded a man in the South Side’s West Englewood neighborhood.

Officers reportedly responded to a call about a gunman Saturday afternoon near 58th Street and Damen Avenue. After the man was found by police, a chase ensued and shots were fired, injuring the man.

The man, who was not identified by police, was taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Police said his weapon was found at the scene, and no one else was injured.

The incident is under investigation by the Independent Police Review Authority.
