The Chicago Police Department is on track to break an all-time record that poses a problem for the city.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports officers are retiring at a record pace this year.
The Fraternal Order of Police says this year’s retirees will top 580; that would break the old record of 570, which was set in 2004.
The F.O.P. also says, the city has only hired 190 officers this year.
But, an aide to the mayor says some of the 250 officers currently in the police academy will be graduating by mid-December.
