State Rep. Arthur Turner is running for Illinois lieutenant governor. Turner announced his candidacy Sunday, saying he’ll campaign on the promotion of volunteerism, job creation, industry growth and sustainability. The 58-year-old Democrat has represented his Chicago district since 1981. He was named deputy majority leader 16 years ago. Turner says he also wants to focus on veterans services, schools and economic development. The post of lieutenant governor was formerly held by Pat Quinn, who moved up to governor in January after former Gov. Rod Blagojevich was impeached and ousted from office.
