Chicago Holds City Jobs Fair on Friday

Job Fair2Hundreds of city jobs are available, according to Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, and people can get help applying for them on Friday.

The City of Chicago is hosting a job fair at Kennedy King City College, 740 West 63rd Street, on Friday, November 9, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. According to a city news release, the Chicago Transit Authority, Chicago Public Schools, City Colleges of Chicago, the Chicago Park District, and Chicago Housing Authority will all participate.

“This job fair will give residents the opportunity to apply onsite for these good jobs with assistance from city officials,” Mayor Emanuel said in the news release.

City staffers will also help people learn how to use the online application system CAREERS, and can attend workshops on resume writing and interviewing. Those tutorials are on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Department of Human Resources Commissioner Soo Choi said the city hopes the job fair will help reach individuals who might not have otherwise applied.
