Stevie Edwards is the first local black designer to have a full-page ad in Vogue Magazine. Stevie was joined with friend and muse, Chicago Actress Lisa Raye, who will also be featured in his upcoming Harper’s Bazaar photoshoot.

Lisa Raye spoke of her love and support for longtime friend, Stevie Edwards saying, “To see Chicago’s own-this Black-owned fashion designer doing such big things, I’m so happy for Stevie. I wanted to model for him years ago before there was any of this-Hollywood and Vogue, etc. So now to see him here at this level and me at this level- it just made sense that we would work on this next photoshoot together.”

The Invite-Only Fashion event was a celebration of a career that has come full circle. Born and raised on the Southside of Chicago, Steve Edwards attended Dunbar High School and graduated from Ray-Vogue College of Design. Eunice Johnson, who purchased some of his gowns and included them in the Ebony Fashion Fair Show, discovered him. After working for years as an assistant to Chicago Designers Barbara Bates, Keith Kendall, and Reginald Thomas, he launched his women’s brand, “I Luv Stevie,” in 2008.
