Celtics to open season against Cavaliers

The Boston Celtics will begin defense of their NBA title on Tues. Oct. 28 against Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers as the league announced its official 2008-09 schedule Wednesday.

The Celtics will also face the Los Angeles Lakers in a rematch of the NBA Finals on Christmas Day.’ The Lakers, meanwhile, will also open the season on Oct. 28 when they host the Portland Trail Blazers in what should be Greg Oden’s NBA debut. The Bulls will be tipping off their 43rd season when they entertain the Milwaukee Bucks on Tues. Oct. 27 at the United Center. The Bulls will play seven of their first 10 games at home before embarking on their annual west coast “circus” road trip Nov. 18-26. One of the highlights of the Bulls schedule this coming season include the NBA World Champion Boston Celtics in a St. Patrick’s Day clash on Tuesday, March 17. The Cleveland Cavaliers come to town on Saturday, November 8 and Thursday, January 15. The Bulls will also host their Central Division foes, the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday, February 10 and Tuesday, March 24. %u2028 The No. 1 pick in the 2007 draft, Oden sat out last season after knee surgery. In other highlights of the schedule, the NBA returns to Oklahoma City on Oct. 29, the first full slate of games, when the former Seattle franchise welcomes Milwaukee to the Ford Center. Oklahoma City served as a secondary home for the New Orleans Hornets for two seasons after Hurricane Katrina.
