Thomas Brown currently serves as the Black McDonald’s Operator’s Association’s (BMOA) president, as well as board member of McDonald’s Operators Association of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana. The Black McDonald’s Operators Association of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana is made up of 16 area McDonald’s restaurant owners. The BMOA serves to create and expand leadership and partnerships in the African-American community. It also works to sustain the accomplishments that the McDonald’s brand has retained as the leading food service retailer. The BMOA has succeeded in providing employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in their communities. The BMOA additionally makes an impact on their customers and residents of the communities by enhancing the lives of youth through their various programs. Brown has been in the restaurant business for more than 15 years. After a 20-year career in Human Resources Management within the food industry, he became a central part of the McDonald’s organization. He wanted to own a franchise and found McDonald’s to be his best option. Brown has been an owner/operator since 1990 and currently owns three McDonald’s restaurants in the Chicago area. Brown has proven his capabilities in the food service field. Along with these achievements, he continues to contribute to the community through programs such as: “Write to Achieve,” “Food for the Body and Spirit” and “Be Well” balanced active lifestyles program.
