The boyfriend of Carlee Russell, the 25-year-old woman who disappeared after calling 911 to report a child alone on the side of an Alabama highway, blasted her after news surfaced that she lied about being kidnapped.Thomar Simmons took to Instagram to address news of the fake abduction, slamming Russell for falsifying the incident and referring to himself as her ex-boyfriend, per TMZ.

“Carlee’s actions created hurt, confusion, and dishonesty,” Simmons wrote. “I was made aware of the false narrative after coming to the defense of my ex Carlee Russell.”

Simmons went on the say that his family was “disgusted” and “blindsided” by the news after reacting out of love and concern for Russell’s disappearance.

His comments came after Russell’s attorney, Emory Anthony, issued a statement on Monday (July 24) saying the 25-year-old fabricated the abduction story that garnered national attention.

Anthony said Russell lied to 911 dispatchers about seeing a child walking alone on the side of Interstate 459 South. She falsely claimed that she was abducted by a man and woman after stepping out of her vehicle to check on the alleged child.

Russell’s attorney also apologized on behalf of Russell but declined to address why she faked the kidnapping. According to reports, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office is weighing pursuing criminal charges against Russell.
