A capacity crowd of State elected officials, Cook County elected officials, locally elected officials, civic leaders, and residents are expected to witness the historic swearing-in of Rich Township Supervisor Calvin Jordan as he prepares for his second term of office.
On April 1, Supervisor Jordan was overwhelmingly re-elected to a second term of office by nearly 80% of the vote. In fact, Jordan’s entire slate of current Township Trustees, the Township Clerk, and Constitutional Officers were also re-elected to their respective offices.
“As I enter this second term of office, I am energized, primed and ready for the challenges that we now must prepare to engage upon. Our accomplishments over the past four years have been recognized and celebrated by officials all throughout the state of Illinois,” says Supervisor Jordan.
Jordan adds, “Four years ago, we all were optimistic concerning a new frontier to which former President Joe Biden had successfully launched throughout our country. We put bold emphasis on a balanced economy, affordable healthcare, poverty, and workforce development.
Now, four years later, we are faced with a complete 360-degree reversal of so much progress that led to upward mobility of our daily lives. Today, we find ourselves in a fight to save Social Security, Medicaid, the Affordable Healthcare Act, Public Education funding and so many other social programs, including the distribution of food not just to the homeless but the working class as well.”
Many county officials, state agencies, and civic activists took notice of Rich Township’s unique abilities in assisting its residents through such events and bestowed the government countless
accolades and honors. Jordan and the Township government were thrilled to have received the prestigious Township of Illinois’s Township of the Year and Supervisor of the Year for 2023 and 2024, respectively.
Many of the township’s programs were also awarded such honors, including that of the popular “Man Cave Program,” which received the 2024 Innovative Senior Program of the Year Award.
In addition, Supervisor Jordan was fortunate to receive the legendary Elected Official of the Year Award from the Illinois Township Association of General Assistance Caseworkers. While being grateful for the award, he acknowledges his fellow township officials, staff, and volunteers, whom he deems to be the real heroes and honorees with whom he shares any award given to him.
Recently, the government celebrated the 175th Anniversary of the township. Throughout the years, Rich Township has been more than just a place on the map; it has been a home to generations of families, a sanctuary for dreams, and a stage for countless stories of triumph and resilience.
