The organization known as C4 – Community Counseling Centers of Chicago – presents its 2025 Hope Gala on Friday, May 2, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Fairlie Chicago, 339 N. Bell Ave., Chicago, IL 60612.
A 501(c)(3) public charity, C4 provides trauma-informed and culturally relevant mental and behavioral health services in more than 30 Chicago zip codes. C4 serves a deeply vulnerable community – 100 percent who are low-income, 45 percent who have no stable income, and 16 percent are experiencing homelessness.
The goal of this year’s Hope Gala, themed “Hope for Tomorrow, a Hope Worth Celebrating,” is to raise $150,000 to support the C4 mission, but, to date, reaching the goal has been a challenge. Visit givebutter.com/HopeGala25.
Meanwhile, C4’s impact is vast. In 2024, C4 served nearly 7,000 children, youth and adults and delivered 76,000 mental health services including counseling, crisis interventions, recovery and medical services.
“The need for trauma-informed mental healthcare in Chicago has never been higher, especially for youth, survivors of gun violence, and people living with serious mental illness. Yet, corporate giving and philanthropic dollars are dwindling. We need support more than ever before, so we hope the Chicago community will plan to attend our special evening,” said Kerri Brown, C4 president and CEO.
“In addition to raising funds, we will honor four incredible individuals who have given so much to C4,” Brown said.
Hope Gala honorees are State Rep. Lindsey LaPointe (19th District), Donald J. Dew, president and CEO, Habilitative Systems, Inc. (HSI), Wynona Redmond, president and founder, Wyn-Win Communications, Inc., and Becky Brasfield, C4 Recovery Support Specialist.
”Rep. LaPointe has been a dedicated advocate for affordable housing, homelessness prevention, and senior care for years. In Springfield, she champions accessible behavioral healthcare, expanded housing options, and a new, more effective human services system.
For more than 40 years, Donald Dew has led HSI, a premier human services and behavioral health organization, in providing critical support to individuals with mental illness, disabilities, substance use disorders, and trauma—serving children, seniors, and people with special needs.
Wynona Redmond is a visionary strategist in communications and community engagement. She has empowered leaders across sectors—political, corporate, and grassroots—by crafting impactful messaging and outreach strategies to tackle community issues such as healthcare, housing, employment, and education.
And C4’s own Becky Brasfield is a recognized leader in recovery support. She holds multiple certifications in the field, is a published author, and has worked with mental health leaders across Illinois, the U.S., and internationally.
We are eternally grateful to our honorees,” Brown said.
In addition to the awards ceremony, the annual black-tie Hope Gala includes a delectable gourmet dinner, a silent auction filled with unique goodies, and entertainment.
“We are hoping for a tomorrow that prioritizes mental health, centers community, and leaves no one behind,” Brown said. Visit www.c4chicago.org.
